The defendant was not brought before a judicial officer authorized to grant bail in Virginia Beach, but was immediately transported to Hampton and brought before a Hampton magistrate. En route, defendant made an incriminating statement. On the day of trial, defendant made a motion to dismiss his arrest warrant as being improperly executed and to exclude the confession as a fruit of the unlawful arrest. The trial court denied the motion as untimely under Va. Sup. Ct. R. 3A:12(c)(1), and defendant was convicted.
Whether the trial court erred in refusing to rule on the admissibility of his confession and in receiving the confession into evidence?
Whether the officer violated the following provisions of Code § 19.2-76 in effect at the time of the arrest?

The court states that “we will assume, but not decide, that defendant’s motion was timely and that it was not subject to the seven-day limitation of Rule 3A:12(c)(1). Nevertheless, we reject defendant’s argument on the merits of the motion and hold the confession was properly admitted in evidence. The officer’s conduct in placing defendant under arrest in Virginia Beach was lawful, even though the act was technically “improper” because the officer was acting beyond his territorial jurisdiction and had no standing to arrest by virtue of his office. The officer nonetheless retained power as a private citizen to make an arrest when, as here, the felony had actually been committed and he had reasonable grounds for believing the person arrested had committed the crime.”
2) Whether the officer violated the following provisions of Code § 19.2-76 in effect at the time of the arrest?
The court held that the officer’s failure to take defendant before a Virginia Beach magistrate as required by Code § 19.2-76 was a mere procedural violation of that statute which did not prejudice defendant, and which did not involve an error of constitutional dimension giving rise to an application of the exclusionary rule. Here, contrary to the situations in the cases relied on by defendant, there was no lack of probable cause to arrest; there was no coercion, the confession being freely given during the brief trip from Virginia Beach to Hampton; there was no suggestion of bad faith by the police; and there was no inordinate delay in bringing defendant before a proper judicial officer having authority to grant bail. The police conduct was not tantamount to a Fourth Amendment violation and it would therefore be inappropriate to invoke the exclusionary rule.
Conclusion:
This court affirmed defendant’s convictions of rape and sodomy and his 10 and 5 year sentences to the penitentiary

He is then offered by a wealthy, retired industrialist, Henrik Vanger to conduct an investigation regarding the lost of his great niece Harriet. Blomkvist on the other hand is unaware that he too is also being investigated by a private investigator Lisbeth Salander with regards to his personal and professional history.
The Girl who Played with Fire
Mikael Blomkvist continues to expose the corruption in Swedish establishments. He is all for exposing the crooked things that are happening around him. He became interested then in the report of a young journalist with regards to sex trafficking in Sweden and the abuses of made by the high officials with underage girls. Lisbeth Salander on the other hand is able to clone Blomkvist’s computer drive and is drawn to taking revenge on the perpetrators of the abused girls.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest
Lisbeth Salander is treated at Sahlgrenska Hospital after being shot by her father, Alexander Zalachenko. Salander’s three murder cases are dropped but still charged with the death of two biker gang members at Bjuman’s summer cabin. Blomkvist classified copies of reports are tracked down by the Section operatives. Before the start of Salander’s trial, the Section finds out that Blomkvist is playing with them they try to sabotage the special issue of the Millenium being printed and try to ruin his credibility.

Online Dating Safety – Tackling Internet Crime
Online dating is a great way to contact and meet new people. Either for free or for a small fee you can have access to thousands of singles looking for love.
However it is an unfortunate fact that whilst the vast majority of people using these services are decent law abiding citizens looking for love there are those that seek to exploit the vulnerabiltiy of singles online.
A common trick comes from African or Eastern European nationals who e-mail users with tales of family deaths, large inheritences and if only they could get across to the UK if you pay them some money they would share this money with you. They often ask for your private e-mail address for “privacy” purposes.
Of course this is a scam pure and simple, yet some users may be caught out and it is important to learn to identify these scams.
Tips
Firstly do not be fooled by their profile details – their sign up information may say they are from the UK, United States etc.. but this does not mean they are. More often than not they are sitting in an internet cafe in Africa.
Secondly check for language and spelling – broken English is often a good sign of a scam.
Thirdly do they seem overly interested in you – remember if it is too good to be true it usually is
Fourthly are they requesting personal details. Often these scammers will request your e-mail address for “security” reasons.
How do I protect myself
NEVER give out personal details, even an e-mail address unless you know the person. Nearly all online dating sites offer a secure internal e-mail system whereby you can chat to users without revealing any of your personal details.
If you do suspect a member is attempting to commit a crime then report them to the dating site administrator who will take the neccessary action against the offender. If you are sure it is a scam then also report the user to their ISP who may then disable their e-mail.
