Daily News Headlines
What has perhaps been dominating the news headlines in the past few days is the completion of one year in office by the UPA Government in its second avtaar. But the issues that dominated and almost became daily news in the functioning of the UPA-II this past one year were : naxal violence, the Government and the Congress part talking in different tones, the Prime Minister not intervening on important issues, even in Parliament and perhaps the criticism that PM was more obsessed with foreign policy rather than domestic problems.
In fact, the Naxal attacks this past one were so ferocious that they part of daily news in both print and electronic medium. In fact, as recently as two days back it was back in the current headline were Naxals blew up a bus killing innocent civilians in Dantewada. If that was not sufficient, the Home Minister P Chidambaram hit the headlines when in an interview to NDTV he commented that he was working with a limited mandate.
To add confusion to the Naxal chaos was the Government and the Congress party talking in different tunes. Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh launched a scathing attack which writing in a daily newspaper criticising Chidambaram’s handling of the Naxal situation. Then there was Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh who criticized the Home Ministry’s handling of clearance to Chinese firms. The two issues again hogged the news headlines for a number of days.
Not a day passed when Naxal violence was not part of the daily news forcing even the PM to describe it as the single biggest challenge to internal security. Similarly PM showed little resolve by not participating in important debates in Parliament though his intervention would have helped clarify the Government’s stand. This gave an opportunity to the opposition to describe him as a “weak PM.” The UPA thus was in news perhaps for all the wrong reasons this past one year.
Similarly, PM was also criticized in news by analysts for being obsessed with Indo-Pak relation. As news headlines often said that if in UPA-I PM was focused on Indo-US relations, in UPA-II its Indo-Pak.
But there were some achievements also. For instance issues like Right to Education hit the headlines highlighting how committed the UPA was to basic education for children. This was a classic example of how with little planning the Government could be in news for all the right reason rather than the wrong ones.

Article and News Distribution Tips
As an operator of a professional article distribution service, I get questions all the time from customers about SEO, article marketing, link building, and press releases. It would probably take a whole book to address all the questions in details. But here are some of the most common questions that I’ve encountered. Hopefully, you find them useful.
Q: Why perform article marketing at all?
You do article marketing for 2 reasons: direct traffic from the links in your author resource box and for SEO purposes. When you write and submit your articles for publication, you are allowed to include 2 or 3 links at the end of the articles. These are what we usually refer to as “back links”. The more back links you have from authority and well established sites, the higher rankings your web pages will get.
Therefore, article marketing is one of the best way to give you long term traffic. You get traffic from the articles AND the search engines month after month.
Q: What is the difference between article submission and press releases?
Traditionally, press releases are used as stories to capture the attention of news agents, in the hope that the stories will be published and the business owners get free publicity. However, the game is very different on the Internet.
Press release on the Internet is becoming more and more about link building. Press releases are sold based on active links included in the press releases. In other words, if you want live links in your press releases, be prepared to pay a price for it.
In this aspect, press releases and article submission are similar. Both can be used to build back links for SEO purposes. However, news releases are often indexed by news engines such as Google News, Yahoo News, and MSN News. These news aggregators are responsible for delivering news to millions of online visitors each month. So if you get your news releases into those indexes, you will get immediate exposure; at least until your news becomes outdated.
If you are just starting out, you should issue press releases and do article distributions for maximum results. Press releases will get you the immediate attention you need, and the articles will get you long term traffic.
Q: Does article marketing really work for SEO?
I get this question a lot. And the short answer is, “Yes!” I don’t care what the experts say. I only believe in the results that I see. Time after time, customers have reported improved in search engine rankings after submitting just a few articles to several hundred article directories. It is not uncommon to see an internal page ranking in page 7 or 10 of the search results to jump to page 1 or 2 in just a few short weeks. If you can get 1 page to rank, you can get 10 pages to rank. That’s how you can continue to scale your traffic.
Q: How many articles should I submit per week?
For every website you promote, you should shoot for at least 250 articles to get any kind of viable traction. Anything less than that, you may not get enough traffic for your internet business to work. It takes time and patience to write and submit 250 articles. Logically speaking, you should be able to write 10 decent articles per day. That depends on how fast you can write. If you want to go the fast route, outsource all your article writing.
In fact, there are tons of examples of highly successful internet marketers who are earning a good income just by using article marketing alone. Pretty impressive stuff. So there is little doubt that article marketing does indeed work!

Charleston Residents Take Crime Rates Down with Home Security
Charleston, South Carolina has a lot to offer residents living in the area. It is a medium sized city situated in one of the prettiest coastal areas of the South. One of the most remarkable things about this city is that it is known as the “holy city” because its low rise skyline is marked by many church steeples that rise above. It is a city that boasts many different religious buildings that coincide with its colonial reputation for being one of the few states in the original thirteen colonies that had a policy of tolerance at the time.
At first glance, this city is a quintessential sight, rich in history as well as quaint with all of the steeple points jutting out on the cityscape speaking of the historical tolerance.
Today, one thing city residents do not tolerate, however, is the rising crime rates. Unfortunately, this formerly quiet colonial town has gained another reputation for itself as being one of the more dangerous cities to live in within the United States. In a 2008 ranking the city itself had a crime index rating that was more than 110 points above the national average for cities with populations over 75,000. The metropolitan area of Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville as a whole ranked 21st in the final listing of the most dangerous metro areas. It is clear that the level of home security in this American city has become compromised.
These statistics and rankings show that Charleston has become a tougher town to live in over the last few years. However, as crime rates have risen, residents’ spirits have not fallen. More and more Charleston residents are getting serious about these numbers and are making the necessary investment in a home security system. These systems can protect Charleston residents from the fear and possibility of having their homes broken in to. These systems work day and night, 24 hours a day to keep citizens and their homes protected.
The basic system that most residents are getting comes equipped with a loud a home alarm system. This system can be programmed to automatically detect the presence of an unwanted intruder anywhere on the property. When the alarm goes off it will have a highly audible siren and the more advanced systems will also automatically alert the local emergency response teams. As a result, Charleston citizens will be alerted at the first sign of a break in and they will already have help on the way. This keeps them safe and prevents any further damage or loss from happening as the home alarm stops a criminal in their tracks.
To this extent, Charleston residents are taking their destiny into their own hands, by protecting their homes from crime. They are taking the initiative to make their homes safe and secure. This important action is a step toward prevention and also a step toward lowering the overall crime rate in the area. The city itself is becoming a safer place to live in as more residents are giving criminals less of a reason to be around. Their home security systems are effectively making the city less of a target area for crime.
